The diamond tip microdermabrasion is a deep exfoliation of the skin, eliminating dead skin cells that lay on the surface of the skin. Removing these dead cells allows the skin’s surface to be smoother and brighter, and also increases the skin’s cellular turnover rate, which slows as the skin ages. Pores will appear minimized, fine lines and wrinkles are reduced, scars become faded, and pigmentation is improved. The number of treatments is dependent on skin type and condition. The best results are achieved when an advanced and professionally advised program is followed.
What should I expect?
The technician will customize skincare products to apply pre and post microdermabrasion.
During the procedure, patients can relax while one of our technicians moves the diamond tip hand piece over the area to be treated. Post treatment skin may be slightly pink. Several days post treatment the skin may be dry and flaky due to the skin cells shedding quickly. We advise additional moisturizer and sunscreen post treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment times are dependent upon the area to be treated, however, most appointments last a half hour.
Are there any precautions for the microdermabrasion?
A microdermabrasion cannot be performed on open or injured skin. Waxing, collagen injections, and Botox injections should be avoided for 14-21 days before and after treatment. Direct sun exposure is prohibited during treatment. Sun protection of SPF 30 is mandatory. Discontinue chemical peels, microdermabrasion, AHA, glycolic peels, RetinA, Renova, or any other exfoliating treatments 7-14 days pre and post microdermabrasion.
