How Does It Work?
The Candela GentleLASE System is a revolutionary long-pulse high energy alexandrite laser that emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The skin is further protected during the treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin cooling the upper layers and providing the patient with increased comfort.
What Happens During a Treatment Session?
Before starting the treatment session, the hair that needs to be treated will be trimmed above the surface of your skin. Candela’s Dynamic Cooling Device will ensure you are comfortable during the procedure. You may also opt to apply a numbing gel to the targeted area.
During the session, your technician will adjust the laser equipment based on your skin color and the thickness, color, and location of the hair being treated. Both you and your technician will wear special eye protection to ensure your safety during the procedure.
You might feel a sensation similar to a rubber band being snapped against your skin or a warm pinprick during the laser pulses, but most patients report that the procedure is well-tolerated.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
Although the results of laser hair removal may vary from patient to patient, you will start to notice a difference right after your first session. While all hair may not be removed during the initial treatment, it will grow back slower than before. With each treatment session, your hair will grow back lighter in color and significantly finer.
For optimal results, we suggest undergoing a series of six treatment sessions, spaced out at intervals of four to six weeks. What is the cost?
The Laser Hair & Skin Center offers free consultations for all laser services. During the consultation for laser hair removal, a technician will review your medical history, assess the area of concern, and answer any questions or concerns you may have. We will evaluate if you are an ideal candidate for laser treatment during the consultation and may perform a test area on the same day. Lastly, we will discuss pricing options with you. There is no obligation to pay or begin treatments during the consultation.
What are the Pre and Post Treatment Considerations?
For the best results do not wax or tweeze the area several weeks prior to treatment. Trimming is advisable. We cannot perform any laser hair removal treatments while a client is taking a photosensitive medication. Treatment will be postponed for a recommended safe time period. We cannot perform treatment on suntanned skin. It is advisable to have no sun exposure 4-6 weeks pre and post laser. Sun protection of 30 or greater should be used during the treatment process.
